The battle for Hougoumont

The Battle of Hougoumont is specifically designed as the ideal starting point to learn Marshals Unleashed. This focused scenario acts as a tactical drill school, introducing the core rules, unit interactions, and command decisions in a compact and manageable battle before advancing to larger engagements like Waterloo.
Set during the Battle of Waterloo, Hougoumont recreates Napoleon’s attempt to draw Allied forces away from the main front. Players command French and Allied troops in a tense struggle for control of the château, its farms, and surrounding gardens. With a limited map, clear objectives, and 21 intense turns, the battle rewards smart manoeuvring, combined arms tactics, and precise timing.

You’ll command a balanced force of infantry, cavalry, and artillery, learning how movement, fire, and positioning work within the Marshals Unleashed system. Despite its smaller scale, Hougoumont uses the same rules and mechanics as the larger land battles, making it the perfect training ground before expanding to full army command.
