Sapper Units add powerful engineering capabilities to your Marshals Unleashed battles, representing the highly trained military engineers of the Napoleonic era. More than builders of fortifications, sappers are offensive support troops able to construct pontoon bridges, sandbag fortifications, and wooden spike fences, as well as breach wooden gates, palisades, and fences (taking 3 turns). These elements allow you to block roads, protect artillery from cavalry, and create new crossing points over rivers, dramatically changing the battlefield. Each build action costs 1 action point per turn, and sappers must be positioned in the same battle zone as the element being constructed. Built elements can be targeted and destroyed by enemy howitzer artillery, with each element having 2 damage points.

The downloadable unit sheet includes 8 sapper units and 4 build elements of each type (pontoon bridges, sandbags, and fences). You may print additional elements as needed for your battles or campaigns.
